CER Essay debate: Leveraging the EU Emissions Trading System to fund railway projects

A new CER Essay on leveraging the EU Emissions Trading System to fund railway projects was presented at the European Parliament.

The discussion featured opening remarks from MEP Lena Schilling and MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, a presentation of the essay's findings by Professor Oliviero Baccelli of Bocconi University and CER Executive Director Alberto Mazzola, and insights from DG Climate Action adviser Damien Meadows.

The discussion highlighted how EU Emissions Trading System revenues could be directed to support sustainable transport, aligning EU climate goals with transport in Europe.
