CER Chairman Christian Kern to become new Austrian Chancellor

Christian Kern, having been called to become the new Chancellor of the Austrian Republic, stepped down today as the CEO of OeBB (Österreichische Bundesbahnen) and Chairman of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER).

Christian Kern had been CEO of OeBB since 2010 and became CER Chairman in 2014. Under his charismatic leadership the association worked on a number of legislative and non-legislative dossiers that shaped the EU transport policy and the regulatory framework in which the sector will conduct its business in the years to come.

“Working with Christian has been a great professional and human experience,” said CER Executive Director Libor Lochman. “Mr Kern is a very committed professional, a skillful manager and a wise politician. The whole CER team as well as the association’s General Assembly join me in congratulating him on this most distinguished of appointments, which is at the same time a sign of recognition for his rare qualities as well as one of the highest challenges a person can wish for”.
