Clean Industrial Deal requires Clean Logistics on Rail
Clean, Energy Efficient and Decarbonised Transport is essential to match the aspirations and complete the objectives of a Clean Industrial Deal and a strengthened Single Market that is also instrumental to achieve the EU’s objectives for a sustainable development as set in the European Green Deal.
The reports "The Future of European Competitiveness" by Mario Draghi and "Much More Than a Market" by Enrico Letta have highglited the pivotal role of transport in enhancing Europe's economic performance and social cohesion, as well as its critical importance in enhancing the European Union's Single Market.
A strategy calling for clean industry has to also call for sustainable logistics, because clean products will only be possible with clean logistics and clean mobility on rail. The energy efficiency and decarbonization of freight transport through rail, will positively affect the industrial operational costs and overall competitiveness of the EU’s industry, mitigating the impact of energy and CO2 prices.
