Dual-use, resilient and interconnected, cross-border Military Mobility on rail – readiness 2030 and beyond

European railways have witnessed the undeniable recognition of the European rail system as the backbone of military mobility.

In order to deliver swift cross border military mobility services, there is a need for a systemic approach to the railway system.

Following up on CER’s 'Rail's Vital Role in Enabling the Future of EU Defence', this position paper details some elements that CER and its Members consider more significant for the purpose of the expected Military Mobility Package. It is also a complement to the contributions CER and its Members presented in July in the context of the targeted consultation and survey, that the Commission launched to provide input for the Joint Communication.
