CSM on risk assessment
POSITION PAPER covering the results of the CER -UIC ‘Application Exercise’ concerning the RAC ‘design criteria’ values presented in ERA draft revision recommendation for regulation 352/2009

The SSMG/CER Task Force on Risk Assessment Criteria (RAC) has welcomed the opportunity to work in co-operation with European Rail Agency (ERA) on its draft revision of the Recommendation for Regulation 352/2009. The Task Force is supportive of the purposes of the regulation, and believes that the specification of RAC at the correct level has the potential to improve mutual understanding of risk assessment, facilitate EU-wide acceptance of safety demonstration and safety-related equipment, and therefore to reduce cost.

The SSMG/CER Task Force was tasked with assessing the likely impact of the application of the RAC, as proposed by the European Rail Agency (ERA) in its draft revision of the Recommendation for Regulation 352/2009.
