Mobility Package
Mobility Package
On 31 May 2017, the European Commission put forward a first wave of mobility initiatives as part of a wide-ranging Mobility Package. Published under the heading 'Europe on the Move', the set of initiatives included 8 legislative proposals aiming, in the Commission's words, at improving the functioning of the road haulage market; enhancing the employment and social conditions of workers; and promoting smart road-charging in Europe.
On 8 November 2017, the European Commission published a second wave of Mobility Package initiatives under the heading 'Clean Mobility Package', including proposals for the revision of the Combined Transport Directive and for a Regulation on common rules for access to the international market for coach and bus services.
On 17 May 2018, the Commission put forward a third and final set of measures to complete its agenda for safe, clean and connected mobility. This third Mobility Package includes proposals for a streamlined TEN-T, for a Regulation on electronic freight transport information and for a revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive.
