Cancún agreement reignites debate on raising 2020 emissions target
Further pressure on the EU to raise its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target from 20% to 30% by 2020 is the most likely consequence of the agreement reached at the recent UN Climate Change Conference (COP 16) in Cancún, Mexico to affect European transport policy, as details became clearer following the end of the conference on 11 December. Bus & coach passenger rights: new EU legislation at the expense of passengers
A hurried agreement on new EU legislation on bus and coach passenger rights was reached on 30 November between European Parliament and Council representatives. CER is disappointed about this agreement as it does not guarantee necessary rights for bus passengers and at the same time does not equally treat different modes of transport.
