The campaign, launched in 2005 as a European Commission initiative in the framework of the Intelligent Energy Europe programme, contributes to achieving the European Union’s 2020 energy policy targets.

More concretely, the aims of the Sustainable Energy Europe campaign are:

* stimulating changes towards an increase in private investment on sustainable energy technologies
* spreading best-practice and ensure a strong level of public awareness, understanding and support
* building alliances among sustainable energy stakeholders

The partnership with the SEE campaign offers CER promotion and communication support through a number of tools such as a link on the SEE campaign, the right to use the SEE campaign logo in its publications, to actively participate in the EU Sustainable Energy Week and more. This will help to increase CER’s visibility at European level and the promotion of railways as a sustainable and environment- minded sector.

The Sustainable Energy Europe partnership is made up of about 900 organisations, which are implementing a project intended to have a significant impact on the energy environment in the EU. Current partners of the campaign range from areas as diverse as energy, transport, consumer goods, appliances, buildings, and involve private companies, NGOs, international and European associations, and cities.
