New Reforming Railways – Learning from Experience

On 9 February, European Commission Vice-President Siim Kallas, responsible for transport, launched the book “Reforming Railways – Learning from Experience” in Brussels in the framework of the European Railway Award. The book, produced by the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER), gives a comprehensive overview of the state of play of reforms in the railway sector in different countries, in and outside Europe. This book is an update of the book entitled “Reforming Europe’s Railways – An assessment of progress” which was produced by CER in 2005.

New European Railway Legislation Handbook

Wolfgang Tiefensee, the German Minister of Transport, launched the new European Railway Legislation Handbook at the InnoTrans rail industry fair in Berlin on 23 September. The handbook comprises a comprehensive collection of European railway legislation as it stands today – published by the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) in Brussels.

Reforming Europe's railways : an assessment of progress

CER has just published a book on reforming Europe’s railways with Eurailpress, Hamburg. Distinguished national experts contributed chapters about the railway reforms in 10 countries and the book also includes a chapter on reforms outside Europe. The book (“Reforming Europe’s railways – an assessment of progress”) describes what has and what hasn’t worked in Europe over the past decades. The book has also been published in German (“Eisenbahnreformen in Europa – Eine Standortbestimmung”).
