Dr. Johannes LUDEWIG

Johannes Ludewig has been Executive Director of CER since 1st June 2002.

A former CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG (1997 – 1999), Johannes Ludewig has extensive experience in public administration and politics. He spent more than 20 years in the German Ministry for Economics and in the office of the German chancellor.

In the Ministry of Economics, he was responsible for Energy, Business Cycle and Economic Policy. In the Chancellery, he was the Head of the Department for Economic and Financial Policy and the Coordination for the New Federal States. In 1995, Johannes Ludewig became State Secretary and Representative Agent of the Federal German Government for the New Federal States. Before joining CER, he worked as a management consultant.

Since 2006, he has also assumed an honorary function as head of the German Commission set up to monitor the national government’s efforts to reduce bureaucracy (the “Normenkontrollrat”).

Johannes Ludewig is married and has three children.
