On 20 October 2009, CER and UNIFE jointly organised in Warsaw a workshop on rolling stock financing in Central and Eastern Europe.
Various rolling stock financing schemes and their respective advantages and drawbacks were analysed by the speakers. Apart from traditional financing by loans, existing alternative models such as operating leasing and pools were presented. The workshop particularly explored how these schemes can be combined with various sources of financing such as European Union (EU) regional aid or loans from international financing institutions (IFIs).
