Communications Officer

Full-time, based in Brussels

The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) is currently seeking to hire a motivated and experienced Communications Officer to join its team ideally as of end November 2020.

General responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications Officer’s main responsibility will be to organise conferences and events, manage CER’s online channels and coordinate the production of communication materials. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Organise public events including the European Railway Award;
  • Manage CER’s digital channels (including acting as webmaster for CER websites);
  • Create and manage big emailing campaigns;
  • Support the production of CER publications such as brochures, activity report, etc.;
  • Manage the production of other communication materials.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • A university degree, preferably in communications and/or international relations;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, including event management is a must;
  • Experience of the association/EU affairs environment is an asset;
  • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken);
  • IT literate including solid knowledge of website management (CMS) and social media channels; perfectly at ease with MS Office; working knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe InDesign);
  • Ability to express creativity;
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills, ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and juggle multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines;
  • A flexible and proactive attitude to work;
  • High degree of attention to detail and commitment to quality;
  • A hands-on, pragmatic and problem solving approach (“can do” approach);
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multinational team.
