
Mr Mauro MORETTI
Mauro Moretti has been working in Ferrovie dello Stato since 1977, just a few months after he graduated in Electro-Technical Engineering at the University of Bologna. His professional career, which always developed within FS Group, began when he won a public examination for an executive position at Azienda Autonoma Ferrovie dello Stato (today Ferrovie dello Stato S.p.A). Since then, he has held numerous positions in various sectors and with various companies of the Group. Moretti has been Vice-Director of the Technologies and System Development Division (December 1991), Director of the Technological Development and Rolling Stock Division (March 1993), Managing Director of Metropolis – the Group company for the management, development and exploitation of real estate assets (February 1994) and Director of the Area Strategica di Affari (ASA) “Rolling Stock and Traction” (July 1996).
In December 1997 he was called to manage the Area Strategica di Affari (ASA) “Infrastructure” which he also guided after its transformation into the Infrastructure Division (July 1999). In February 2001 Moretti became a Member the Board of Directors of Ferrovie dello Stato, which, in July of the same year, established Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, of which he became Managing Director. Since 2004 he is Chairman of the CIFI (Italian Association of Railway Engineers).
In September 2006 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ferrovie dello Stato.
Furthermore, Moretti is Member of the Board of CONFINDUSTRIA (Italian Confederation of Industry) since October 2006, and Member of the Board of Federtrasporto (National Confederation of transport and services companies) since May 2007. On 15 May 2007 he was appointed Chairman of Italferr (Engineering Company of the Group). He is also Member of the Board of Assolombarda (Industrialist and Enterprises Association of Lombardia) of since May 2007. On 7 February 2008 he was appointed Chairman of Grandi Stazioni (Italian station managing Company of the FS Group). From October 2008 he was delegated for Infrastructure, Logistic and Mobility at UIR (Industrialist and Enterprises Association of Rome).
He became Vice-Chairman of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) and Member of the European Management Committee of the International Railway Union (UIC), both in January 2007. He was also Member of the LTF (Lyon Turin Ferroviarie) Board of Directors.
He was unanimously elected as new CER Chairman at the 35th General Assembly meeting of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) in Brussels on 21 January 2009.
